When I was a child, my grandfather asked me to sign my name on a blank piece of paper. I did what he asked, so I was confused when he told me what I just did was wrong. He told me that our family name has meaning and that I should never sign anything blank or anything I do not understand. I admired him; he was the Mayor of a large city in New Jersey.
